FSM Embassy marks start of the 2026 Academic year in Welcome Dinner with Micronesian Student Organization (MSO) in Suva, Fiji

SUVA Fiji — On March 14, 2026, the Embassy of the Federated States of Micronesia had the honor of hosting a Welcome Dinner at the Official Residence of His Excellency Ambassador Carson K. Sigrah and Madam Minnie Sigrah, in collaboration with the Micronesian Student Organization (MSO). The occasion marked the commencement of the 2026 Academic year and provided an opportunity to extend a warm Bula welcome to newly arrived students pursuing higher education at various academic institutions in Fiji.
 
H.E. Carson K. Sigrah and Madam Sigrah graciously received both returning and new students, reaffirming FSM’s continued commitment to the welfare and success of FSM students abroad. The event was further honored by the presence of His Excellency Mr. Junior Aini, Ambassador of the Republic of the Marshall Islands, and Madam Aini, reflecting on the enduring friendship and close cooperation between the two missions, as well as shared recognition of education as a cornerstone of national development in the Micronesian Sub-Region.
 
In his remarks, Ambassador Sigrah underscored the important role of students as representatives of their home states, emphasizing they also serve as ambassadors of the Federated States of Micronesia. He encouraged the students to uphold exemplary conduct, respect the laws and customs of their host country, and remain committed to their academic pursuits. Ambassador Sigrah further reiterated that the Embassy stands ready to support FSM nationals in their studies in Fiji.
 
In keeping with established tradition, the Micronesian Students Organization (MSO) also conducted its annual election of new student officers during the gathering, reinforcing student leadership as well as camaraderie in shared sense of support among Micronesian students abroad.
 
The evening concluded with meaningful interactions between students and Embassy staff, fostering unity and connection. The event serves as a testament to the enduring bond between the Embassy and FSM students, and to the shared commitment to nurturing future leaders of the Federated States of Micronesia.
