SUVA, Fiji – On April 30, 2026, H.E. Carson K. Sigrah received a courtesy visit from Fiji National University College of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences (FNU-CMNHS) leadership team, led by the College’s Dean Dr. Amelia Turagabeci, to discuss potential areas of collaboration in medical education and workforce development in the Federated States of Micronesia (FSM).
Ambassador Sigrah welcomed the engagement and underscored the importance of investing in human resource development to strengthen FSM’s health system, noting that enhancing local capacity in the medical field remains a national priority. His Excellency further expressed appreciation for FNU’s longstanding support to FSM students, who comprise a significant number of FSM nationals pursuing higher education in Fiji. Many of these graduates have since returned to serve in the healthcare sector across FSM, reflecting the positive impact of this partnership.
The discussion reflects a shared commitment to advancing health security and education, and to promoting sustainable development through a people-centered approach under the 2050 Strategy of the Blue Pacific Continent. The FSM remains committed to working with partners to empower its people and build a resilience, future-ready health workforce.
