H.E. Carson K. Sigrah delivers keynote address as a Chief Guest at Fiji National University’s College of Medicine, Nursing, and Health Sciences Flag Raising Ceremony in Suva, Fiji.

SUVA, Fiji – On March 31, 2026 on the observance of the Federated States of Micronesia’s Cultural Day, H.E. Carson K. Sigrah attended and delivered keynote address as a Chief Guest at the Fiji National University (FNU) College of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences Culture Week and Flag Raising Ceremony in Suva, Fiji.
 
The event brought together members of the Diplomatic Corps, FNU Acting Dean Dr. Amelia Turagabeci, faculty and staff, Republic of Fiji Military Force, Diploma in Vanua Leadership candidates, and students from across the Pacific Island Countries beginning their semester in celebration of the start of the year.
 
FNU’s Flag Raising Ceremony plays a special role in celebrating unique cultural identity at FNU- College of Medicine, Nursing and Health Science, reinforcing an exceptional learning environment for students from across the Blue Pacific, including many students from the Federated States of Micronesia.
 
This warm gathering reflected on the rich tapestry of cultural diversity across the Pacific, reaffirming the FSM’s recognition of culture as a fundamental principle for a resilient and prosperous future. “This occasion is made even more meaningful as we recognize and celebrate FSM Cultural Day, now observed as a legal holiday, affirming our national commitment to preserving and honoring the rich heritage, traditions, and unity of the broader Pacific,” stated Ambassador Sigrah.
 
Ambassador Sigrah also highlighted that “today, we do not simply raise pieces of cloth against the morning sky. We raise stories. We raise histories. We raise living identities of our Pacific peoples”. He further concluded that in the medical field, “technical excellence must be grounded in empathy. Our Pacific people need health professionals who understand both science and soul.”
 
The ceremony concluded with visits to cultural booths representing Pacific countries offering richness in local dishes, handicrafts and art from across the region. The FSM remains committed to celebrating cultural diversity, strengthening regional solidarity, and investing in the future of Pacific through the empowerment of its young people.
