SUVA, Fiji –10 February, 2025: Representatives from the Federated States of Micronesia Department of Health and Social Affairs (DHSA) joins the Pacific Region as they come together for the 2025 Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI) Week at the Pacific Islands Forum in Suva, Fiji. This event provides a platform for meaningful discussions to address key challenges to mainstreaming gender and social inclusion into national processes and into the regional 2050 Strategy for the Blue Pacific Continent. Discussions will also enhance regional cooperation for GESI in international, global commitments such as those in the upcoming UN 69th Commission on the Status of Women (CSW69), the 30th Climate Change Conference (COP30), and the Conference of Parties to the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (COSP). These indicate a critical year for GESI advocacy; ensuring gender balance and equity, ensuring meaningful inclusion of persons who are differently-abled, participation and women leadership, gender-responsive action plans, and inclusivity in all processes on a national, regional, and international scale.
