SUVA, Fiji – On January 27, 2025, H.E. Carson K. Sigrah, received a courtesy visit from Fiji Roving Ambassador to the Pacific Island Countries and Territories, H.E. Williame Toganivalu, ringing in the new 2025 year with reaffirmation of cooperation and strong working relationship between the Federated States of Micronesia (FSM) and the Republic of Fiji.
As he has recently returned from a visit to the FSM, H.E. Toganivalu expressed deep gratitude for the warm hospitality he received while at the nation’s Capital and commented on the remarkable history and beauty of Pohnpei, having visited UNESCO World Heritage site of Nan Madol ruins and Kepirohi waterfall, as well as noted the role FSM plays in development as host of the SPC Sub-Regional Office and upcoming UN Multi-Country Office (MCO), both of which target and support projects for local communities in the region. H.E. Toganivalu also noted the richness of the land and sea and with H.E. Sigrah, discussed strengthening bilateral cooperation in areas of agriculture and fisheries, education, labor mobility, maritime technology and sea transport, and aviation, as well as potential finance utilization of the Pacific Islands Development Forum (PIDF).
H.E. Sigrah expressed gratitude and support for the visit, noting the many similar challenges faced in FSM and the Republic of Fiji. He warmly welcomed the potential opportunities for cooperation and reiterated FSM’s willingness to work with Republic of Fiji to overcome these shared challenges. This visit enforces the long-standing relationship between the two nations.
The Embassy of Micronesia in Suva extended its well wishes to the H.E. Toganivalu, welcoming a new and prosperous 2025 year between the FSM and the Republic of Fiji.
