SUVA, Fiji —– On August 27, 2025, the Second Couple of the Federated States of Micronesia (FSM), His Excellency Vice-President Aren B. Palik and Second Lady Adelita A. Palik visited Suva, Fiji, where they were graciously hosted by Madam Minnie Sigrah at the official residence of the FSM Ambassador to Fiji, His Excellency Carson K. Sigrah.
In support of FSM’s ongoing commitment to strengthen engagement with its citizens abroad and ensure the welfare of its students in the Pacific region, this gathering provided an opportunity for the Vice President to engage in an open and thoughtful dialogue with FSM students currently enrolled at the University of the South Pacific (USP), the Fiji National University (FNU), and other institutions across Fiji.
The discussion created a welcomed space for FSM students to share their academic experiences and aspirations, as well as the personal and social challenges that accompany studying and living far from home. Vice President Palik was able to hear the students’ reflections and reaffirmed the National Government’s commitment to understanding and addressing the unique circumstances faced by FSM students in Fiji.
After hearing from the students, Vice President Palik encouraged each of them to continue to strive for academic excellence and also expressed the importance of maintaining communications through the Suva Mission and respective Institutions to ensure continued timely support and assistance when needed. The meeting concluded with expressions of deep appreciation to the students for their candor and resilience in representing the FSM with dignity and pride while abroad.
The FSM Second Couple was accompanied by officials from the FSM Department of Foreign Affairs Assistant Secretary Kenmore Salvadore and joined by the FSM Suva Mission staff and families.
